I'd like to attend Waves, Make's annual conference, in Prague on 20 October. It's one day out of the office, with an optional workshop afternoon on the 19th.
Here's why I think it pays for itself.
Time with the people who build the product. We're currently , and I've been working through most of it on my own. Waves is the one place I can put those questions directly to Make's engineers and product managers. There's a bookable 25-minute 1:1, and a hands-on area where their automation specialists work through a live scenario with you. A few hours of that beats weeks of trial and error. I'd go in with a written list of .
What's coming next. Make announces its roadmap and new releases at the keynote, with a full track on the product afterwards. Knowing what changes in the next 6 to 12 months means we can plan around it rather than rework it later.
What other companies are actually doing. Around 700 people attend, most of them running Make in production at companies our size or bigger. One of the tracks is built entirely around real deployments: what they did, what it changed, and what went wrong. That's a faster sanity check on our approach than anything I can find in documentation.
